Flat-to-Pitched Roof Conversion with Interlocking Grey Tiles & Velux Skylights

Converting a tired flat extension roof into a pitched roof fitted with dual skylights to bring extra natural light into the living space.

We completely removed the original flat roof covering and constructed a new timber rafter structure anchored by a timber wall plate along the brick façade. The pitch was waterproofed using high-performance Corotop breathable underlayment and treated battens, then tiled with slate-grey interlocking tiles. Two Velux roof windows were integrated with flashing kits to maximize interior light, finished with internal ceiling light wells ready for plastering.

Material: Slate-grey interlocking roof tiles, Velux skylights with flashing kits, Corotop breathable membrane, treated timber battens, wall plate timbers, and lead abutment flashing.

Project Scope: Flat roof teardown, timber wall plate and rafter installation, sky window framing, membrane line and battening, tile fitting, lead flashing, and internal ceiling aperture preparation.

Color Palette: Charcoal grey, red brickwork, warm wood tones, and crisp white ceiling plaster.
